FAQs
- What is the vision and purpose for Harvest? Our direction is clear - given to us by Jesus Christ in the Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20). Our mission echoes this: Leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Briefly, the church exists for evangelism and discipleship. We must have both or the church becomes off mission and out of balance.
- Who is your target audience? We are specifically aiming to reach the unchurched that are undecided about Jesus Christ. They are real people living in the community or surrounding community and are not against Christ...they just haven't decided follow Him, yet.
- How many Services do you have? We currently have one service being held at 10:30am. We are looking to expand as the church grows.
- What should I wear? Our style is very casual, the bible is very clear that God is more concerned with our inner thoughts and attitudes than our clothes. Come as you are.
- What will the music be like? We believe that even on “our” worst day... there is a God who is worthy of worship and celebration. Our music style revolves around celebrating Christ and His work in our lives. You can expect a lot of the music to be upbeat with a mixture of contemporary praise and hymns that focus on Christ.
- What does ministry to children look like on a Sunday morning? We currently have space to minister effectively to children from birth to fifth grade. Jesus said, let the children come to me – we are with Jesus. Jesus placed a high value on children and so do we.
*We take ministry to children seriously, all of our children and youth ministry volunteers are screened through a National Background Check.
- Do you have a youth ministry? Yes, we have a youth ministry for students 6th grade-12th grade. We meet Sunday night 6:30pm-8:30pm at the Selah Youth Center located at 106 S Second St, Selah. We believe a lot of life-change happens during these years and are all about making young lives count for eternity.
- Is Harvest part of a denomination or association? Harvest Community Church is being planted or "birthed" out of West Side Church. West Side is a part of the CBNW (Conservative Baptist Northwest) association of churches. The CBNW has adopted a policy that any church planted by an existing CBNW church is automatically considered to be a part of the association. The CBNW provides us with relationships and resources that we feel are a blessing and not a hindrance to this new church.
We are also a part of a church-planting network called the ACTS29 network (www.acts29network.org). This is a growing network of churches in the United States and around the world committed to the great commission and strategically starting and supporting new church plants. The network gets its name from the fact that the book of Acts ends with 28 chapters but the mission of the church is not done, therefore we live in the Acts 29 era.
- When will you get a “church” building? We have contracted with the Selah Civic Center (216 South First Street in Selah, WA 98942) and will expand to multiple services at this location before we would buy or build.
- Is Harvest a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit? Yes, we are a fully recognized 501 (c)(3) non-profit. Any donations given to Harvest are tax deductible. *Donations must have your name and address in order to receive credit.
