Burning Questions

Great Questions demand Great answers...when our great questions are for a GREAT God we should expect Him to answer us with truth, love and compassion. The only bad question is one that never gets asked.

Isaiah 55:6-9
Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake his way
and the evil man his thoughts.
Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Responding in Worship

How do you respond when you do not receive a reply or answer that you like? It is true that we cannot control our circumstances but we can control our responses. Worship when we think about it...is truly a response. Author and Pastor Louie Giglio phrased it well when he said, " Worship is our response, both personal and corporate for who God is and what He has done. Habakkuk 3 is a powerful response to God in prayer/song for who He is and what He has done.

Great Questions2

Sometimes an answer to a questions just raises more questions in our minds. The great news is that God is more than willing to answer. But what happens when don't like God's answer or His pace in answering our questions? It will require faith to ask our questions of God, it will require faith to wait patiently for the answer and it will require faith to accept His answer.
The righteous will live by faith... Habakkuk 2:4

Great Questions

We all have questions that we would love to have answered. Some of these questions are silly or trivial and others could be considered good questions and still others are what we would call "Great Questions". An Great Question cries out for an answer and we take our questions to the source that can give us the answer...
When our questions are spiritual questions, questions for God himself we need to bring them to Him by faith and receive His answer by faith as well.
He is not afraid, He is not insulted, He is ready for us to bring our Great Questions to a Great God.

The Usual Suspects

Sometimes the miraculous incarnation, when God took on flesh... can fall into the familiar and nostalgic ranks right along side "Rudolf" or Dickens’ "A Christmas Carol".

We desperately need to see the Christ of Christmas with fresh eyes again. We can do this by looking at Jesus through the eyes of the two people who are usually left out of the average Nativity Set. Yet, they interacted with Mary, Joseph and the baby before the Magi did.

We find this account recorded for us in the Gospel of Luke, the good news according to Luke. Luke is one of the four gospels that record for us the life and ministry of Jesus. The events around the birth of Jesus are only recorded for us in the book of Matthew and Luke. Luke’s account of the nativity is the fullest and it is in chapter two that we meet two unusual suspects.

Giving Great Gifts

What do you get for the person who has everything?

The good news is that the Bible speaks to this as well and the answer is not a gift card….
The people in Nehemiah’s day have just come through an intense time of prayer and repentance. They have acknowledged who God (gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.) He has consistently been good and loving (even in his discipline). They on the other hand have been consistently inconsistent. They have confessed (agreeing with God about their sin). They are ready to respond and make some commitments individually and as a people.)

But what do you give someone who has everything? – Literally...

Learn how to "Give Great Gifts" to God.

Prayer & Repentance

How do I get this Christmas right? How do I get this life right? How do l live out God's vision for my life? Getting this Christmas right and getting this life right means having a right relationship with the Living God. Having a right relationship with the living God will always involve prayer and repentance. When we recognize who God is and who we are... it will lead us to confession (agreeing with God about our sin) and lead us to repentance. God's vision for us is that we would "Get it Right"!
