The Importance of joining a “Planting Life Group” this Fall

Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:46-47 (NIV emphasis added)

Small Groups, Home Groups, Community Groups, Life Groups… what ever we call them, we must acknowledge that they are not a clever new way of doing discipleship. From the first day of the church there were big gatherings (worship service) and smaller gatherings (for building unity and community.) These smaller groups were an essential element to accomplishing what the believers were committed to. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Acts 2:42 (NIV)  At the new church plant, they will be essential for establishing the type of community involving teaching, fellowship, meals together and prayer. We are urging everyone considering going to Harvest to join a group this fall and these groups will become the congregation of Harvest Community Church. The sign up for the groups is Sunday Sept. 21st @ West Side. Groups will begin the following week.

What happens at a LifeGroup: Simply, we get together to pray for one another, encourage one another and study God’s word together. This is where strong relationships are built and the church becomes so much more than one hour on Sunday.

What can I expect? What will we be studying?

Get Uncomfortable study

The [Get Uncomfortable] study that we will be participating in is a great one for everyone thinking about being a part of the new church. We naturally seek out comfort for ourselves and we seldom obey God to the point of Risk. This study will challenge each of us to view ourselves and the world differently.
