When it comes to mission, vision or philosophy of ministry... we simply want to be known for Jesus and embrace His plan to change the world. The good news is we don’t have to guess what that plan is, He has given us our mission in the pages of his word the Bible.
The Great Commandment
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these." Mark 12:30-31 (NIV)
The Great Commission
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)
Leading people into a Growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
The above statement is our heart… our vision. Here’s how this vision breaks down:
Leading people into a Growing relationship = Evangelism
We want every man, woman and child in Selah and beyond to hear the gospel from the lips of one of our members and make a faith commitment to Jesus Christ.
...a Growing relationship with Jesus Christ = Discipleship
This means not only accepting Jesus' forgiveness as savior but also learning to follow Jesus as Lord (this is where the personal growth happens.)
